Supporting and empowering youth and their families

We’re here for you!

ARISE Community Support

Reach your potential

ARISE Community Support is a not-for-profit community-based organisation, committed to supporting young people aged 9 years and above, as well as their parents, carers and families. We are managed by a community-based committee and our main funding source is the Department of Communities and Justice.

Our friendly, caring team of youth workers are passionate about working with and helping youth and their families reach their full potential.

What we do

Our Services

A core part of our service offering is running multiple youth centres across Eastern Lake Macquarie where young people are invited to drop in, join activities and connect with their peers.

We also work directly with a variety of local schools to develop and run programs that meet the needs of young people today, covering topics like resilience, respect and teamwork.

All of our services are voluntary, and participants can be referred by another service or themselves. Participants can also cease participating at any time – they just need to let a worker know if they are part of a program or casework. We endeavour to ensure that all of our services are free of charge to the participant (except for occasional outings which may incur a small cost, which will always be disclosed).

Support young people, parents, carers and families

Our friendly caseworkers work within the community and at selected schools to support  young people and their families. We use a strengths-based approach aimed at improving their lives, addressing identified needs and working towards achieving their goals.

Caseworkers

ARISE caseworkers operate on a referral basis. This can be self-referrals or made by another service. All casework is provided on an individual basis to best suit the participant. This normally means working one-on-one between participant and caseworker, and facilitating connections with other support systems and services as required.

Assistance, Referrals and advocacy

We provide a wide range of assistance, referrals and advocacy to young people 9 years and older and or their families to support them to address a need or develop skills, network or access relevant services to improve their current situation or lives.

Life skills and early intervention programs

Through our local schools and youth centres, the ARISE team develops and delivers a range of programs which enhance the life skills of our young people or provide early intervention support for specific behaviours. These are delivered on a needs basis to young people aged 9 and above in partnership with schools and the community.

ARISE also partners with local government and other community services to provide opportunities for young people such as Skate Education with Lake Macquarie City Council.

Youth Centre activities

Each week the ARISE team runs a variety of activities across our youth centre locations. Youth centres are an opportunity for young people to drop in and say hi, just hang out or participate in whichever activities are running at the time.

Our qualified youth workers are able to connect with and provide any support young people may need.

No registration is needed – just drop in and hang out!

You will find us and our partners at:

  • Tuesdays – Windale PCYC from 3 – 5:30pm (for ages 9 and above)
  • Wednesdays – Swansea Cottage from 2:30 – 4:30pm (for ages 9 and above)
  • Thursdays – The Place Charlestown from 6:30 – 9pm (for ages 12 and above)
  • Friday every second week – Windale PCYC from 4-7:30pm (for ages 9 and above)

Liaise with other services

As a well-known youth service within the area, we have strong partnerships and relationships with other services which we regularly utilise to assist and support young people so that they can access the best possible support for their situation.
